Student Social, Emotional and Mental Health

• Provides consultation and recommendation to teachers for students who are experiencing distress, trauma or emotional instability
• Maintains communication with school staff, parents and community agencies regarding programs, activities, and needs of students and families
• Works closely with principal, school psychologist, school nurse, learning support teachers, regular education teachers to monitor and assess the academic, social and emotional needs of identified students
• Leads and manages the Student Resource Team to assist in establishing short term as well as long term goals and interventions for individual students
• Provides, in conjunction with the principal and other school professionals, appropriate, timely identification of and intervention for "at risk" students
• Provides information about community agencies and referrals to community agencies for additional help for students as needed
• Provides individual or group counseling for those students who experience social/emotional problems and/or adjustment difficulties
• Assists with the development and implementation of positive behavior support plans
• Provides crisis intervention
• Teaches classroom guidance lessons on a variety of academic, social/emotional, and career topics

• Conduct conferences with students, teachers and parents at all grade levels
• Work with individual students who have been referred for social/emotional, scholastic, health, or other needs
• Arrange for meetings between students and specialists
• Work with outside agencies who are providing support to students
• Monitor and support students' academic progress
• Provide, where appropriate, support services in large groups, small groups, and in one-to-one counseling
• Help students assess their interests, abilities and aptitudes to make career-related, educational, and vocational decisions
• Provide individual support for those students with social/emotional, behavioral, and/or attendance concerns
• Connect students and families with school and community based resources
• Plan, lead and participate in parent/teacher meetings to coordinate support for students
• Participate in the Student Assistance Program

The Radnor High School Student Assistance Program (SAP) consists of administrators, counselors, school psychologists, school nurse, social worker, and selected teachers. All team members have been trained and are SAP certified. RHS SAP team members are trained to identify problems, determine whether or not the presenting problem lies within the responsibility of the school, and to make recommendations to assist the student and the parent. All team members are required to maintain confidentiality throughout the process.

The goals of the Radnor Middle School Student Assistance Program are are to:

• Confidentially identify students who are experiencing barriers that impede their ability to succeed in school. These barriers include, but are not limited to, low self-esteem, lack of coping skills, depression, or the use and abuse of controlled substances;
• Intervene when appropriate, either by personal contact or by support groups, and
• Refer these students for appropriate help within or outside of RMS and monitor their progress towards a healthier and safer lifestyle.

The Radnor High School after-school tutoring program is open to all RHS students at no cost.

The Extended Learning Program (ELP) launched at RHS in January 2019. All RHS ELP instructors are RHS teachers, so they have a keen understanding of what your child is learning in school. Each teacher will utilize various types of instruction during ELP, including small group, one-on-one, and hands-on activities.

The Radnor Middle School after-school tutoring program is open to all RHS students at no cost.

The 2021-22 program opened in October 2021 and runs on Mondays through Thursdays, with subject areas offered at various times in-person and via Zoom.
